Mourinho, a former Chelsea and Manchester United coach, said this on Saturday following Tottenham’s 3-0 home victory over Leeds United in the Premier League.
Mourinho’s men moved third on the Premier League table after beating Marco Bielsa’s side, thanks to three goals from Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min and Toby Alderweireld.
Asked if it was important to win to start the year 2021 off well, Mourinho told BT Sport, “No, people were saying after we played the considered top-six teams that easier matches were coming.
“Of course, I don’t believe in it.
“Leeds is a team capable of creating problems for anyone and the next one, Aston Villa, is my favourite team in the Premier League at the moment.
“It’s a team that I enjoy more to watch a team with lots of very good players, of course, very well-coached.
“And this is what is waiting for us.”
Tottenham’s next match is against Aston Villa on Wednesday night.
